The latest episode of our Coronavirus podcast features Dennis Carroll, a groundbreaking leader in the fight against viruses that make the jump from animals to humans and a big presence in the major Netflix documentary Pandemic. Dennis designed and oversaw a group within USAID called PREDICT, which to a visionary proactive approach to fighting the emergence of zoonotic viruses. Now he chairs the Global Virome Project, a group that carries on PREDICT’s mission. We spoke with Dennis about what we could have done before COVID became a pandemic and how we can avoid our old mistakes in dealing with the next one.
