An American Army trainer from the NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan (NTM-A) mirrors an Afghan National Army (ANA) trainee for technique corrections during a field training exercise at the Kabul Military Training Center (KMTC)

The NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan (NTM-A) oversees high level training for the Afghan National Army (ANA) and the Afghan National Police (ANP) through both training and mentorship. The establishment of defence colleges and academies, as well as the development of doctrine to support the ANA and ANP, is a priority for NTM-A as they work towards helping Afghans build a professional Army and Police force.

NTM-AÕs key elements include the provision of training and mentoring teams to the ANA and the ANP, ANAÕs institutional training, and ANP reform at the district level and below.
